How do I get people to my stops?

Short answer: Same place, same time, every week. Then tell people where you will be, in the places they already look. Your host partners do most of the work if you make it easy.

Steps

  1. Be predictable. A fixed weekly schedule beats a busy one. People come back when they can plan around you.

  2. Pick hosts who bring people. Clinics, schools, housing sites, workplaces and food pantries already have a crowd and a trusted voice.

  3. Give hosts a kit. A flyer, a social post, a text message and a poster with your schedule. Ask them to share it the week before and the day of.

  4. Signs at the stop. A sign on site with the day and time, up all week, not just market day.

  5. Stop subscribers. Ask every customer to subscribe to their stop in the Farmers' Truck Map. Subscribers get a reminder automatically the morning of the market. No map yet? Collect emails at the truck and send the reminder yourself.

  6. Say how to pay. Say clearly if you take SNAP, WIC, Double Up or produce prescriptions. It is often the reason people come.

  7. Post one photo a week. What is fresh this week, from the truck, with the schedule.

  8. Ask how they heard. Track it for a month. Do more of what works.

With the Farmers' Truck Map: Every stop is its own pin with its own subscribers. Customers subscribe to the stop they use, so each message goes to the right people. That is how you build a relationship one stop at a time. The map also shows census tracts, so you can put stops where food access is lowest.
