Food Literacy Starts Here.

Access is powerful, but food literacy turns it into real, lasting impact. It’s not just about bringing fresh fruits and vegetables into neighborhoods, it’s about helping families understand what they are, how to use them, and why they matter.

Food literacy gives people the knowledge and confidence to make healthier choices, cook simple meals, and better understand where their food comes from.

For mobile farmers’ markets, food literacy is the perfect companion to fresh food access. Together, they help communities grow stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant. And when kids are part of that journey early on, the impact can last a lifetime.

To support this, we created Farmer Freddy’s Coloring Book: a fun, engaging tool that helps children explore food through characters, activities, and hands-on learning. It’s designed to spark curiosity and plant the seeds of healthy habits.

Let’s grow food literacy – one page (and one carrot!) at a time.

Bring Farmer Freddy to Your Community!

Want to hand out physical copies of Farmer Freddy’s Food Adventure at your markets or events? You can order printed coloring books to distribute to kids and families – because food literacy starts with fun.

This is just the beginning. We’re building a library of resources, including worksheets, cooking guides, and curriculum ideas, to support food education wherever it happens: at mobile markets, in classrooms, or around the kitchen table.
